The Biovism lab focuses on the automated extraction of information from image, video and sensor data, its fusion with scientific knowledge and its embedding in computational models. We mainly focus on applications in the life sciences. Our activities are mainly situated in the scientific fields of Computer Vision and Knowledge-Guided Machine Learning. Biovism is part of the Faculty of Bioscience Engineering at Ghent University.

Researchers at the lab develop new methodologies in the fields of computer vision, machine learning and applied mathematics that allow to extract information from unstructured data sources and integrate them with scientific knowledge to develop computational models. Their main motivation is to improve the performance and reliability of computational models in the life sciences.
